Bank statement converter
Bank statement PDF to CSV
A CSV with one row per transaction: date, value date, description, signed amount and balance. Accounting software that imports bank CSV files, such as QuickBooks Online or Xero, lets you map these columns during the import.

Clean columns, one sign convention
Statements show money out in many ways: a minus sign, a separate debit column, a trailing minus, DR, brackets. The CSV always has one amount column, negative for money out and positive for money in, which is what bank imports expect.
Checked before you import
An import with a missing row is hard to find later in a reconciliation. The converter checks the transactions against the statement's opening and closing balance first, and tells you when they disagree.
Separators and decimals
The English page writes comma-separated values with a decimal point. The German page writes semicolons with a decimal comma, which German and Austrian Excel opens without a wizard.

Questions
- Does the CSV work with QuickBooks Online?
- QuickBooks Online imports bank CSV files and asks which column holds the date, description and amount. Choose the single amount column option.
- Are formulas in descriptions a risk?
- Descriptions that start with =, +, - or @ are prefixed so a spreadsheet does not run them as formulas.
